Seminary Burse Fund

Dear Friends in Christ,

On the weekend of August 3rd and 4th, 2024, there will be a second collection taken in our parishes for the Seminary Burse Fund. This fund assists future priests in their formation. The annual collection will be taking place on the feast of St. John Vianney, August 4th, as a beautiful way to remind us of our own seminary here in our backyard.

In the 24th chapter of Luke's Gospel, we see how Jesus accompanies the two disciples from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Throughout the encounter, Jesus breaks open the Scriptures, and it was at the breaking of the bread that the disciples first recognized Jesus. During this time that our country has been undergoing a Eucharistic Revival, we too are encouraged to see the face of Jesus in the breaking of the bread. At every Mass, as the priest offers the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus to us, we are taken back to that moment in Emmaus where our hearts were burning as we recognized the real presence of Jesus. By your generous contribution to the Seminary Burse Fund, you facilitate the seminarians' ability to give of themselves to their studies, and to be the priests you deserve. It is in the seminary that they are first accompanied by the Lord, so that they can accompany you.

I thank you for your generosity in contributing to the Burse Fund, and I ask for your prayers that many young people in our Archdiocese will embrace a vocation of service to the Church in responding to the call of the priesthood or religious life.

El fin de semana del 3 y 4 de Agosto de 2024, se realizará una segunda colecta en nuestras parroquias para el Fondo de Becas del Seminario. Este fondo ayuda a los futuros sacerdotes en su formación. La colecta anual se llevará a cabo en la fiesta de San Juan Vianney, el 4 de agosto, como una hermosa manera de recordarnos nuestro propio seminario aquí en nuestro patio trasero.

Con tu generosa contribución al Fondo de Becas del Seminario, facilitas la capacidad de los seminaristas de entregarse a sus estudios. y para ser los sacerdotes que os merecéis, es en el seminario donde primero son acompañados por el Señor, para que os acompañen.
